Why Each Vaccine Matters

🦠

BCG (TB Vaccine)

Given at birth, BCG protects against tuberculosis — especially TB meningitis in babies. One prick, lifetime protection.

🫁

PCV (Pneumococcal)

Prevents pneumococcal disease — a leading cause of bacterial pneumonia and meningitis in under-5 children.

💊

Rotavirus Vaccine

Given orally, it prevents severe rotavirus diarrhea — a major cause of childhood hospitalisation & death.

🌸

MMR (Measles-Mumps-Rubella)

Prevents three highly contagious diseases. Two doses give 97% protection. Essential for school-age children.

🐔

Varicella (Chickenpox)

Prevents chickenpox, which can lead to serious complications. Two doses are nearly 100% effective.

🦋

HPV Vaccine

Protects against Human Papillomavirus — the primary cause of cervical cancer. Best given before exposure (age 9–14).

Feeding Your Growing Child

The right nutrition at the right time makes all the difference.

🤱

0 – 6 Months

Exclusive breastfeeding only. No water, no formula unless medically advised. Breast milk is the perfect complete food.

🥣

6 – 12 Months

Start semi-solid foods at exactly 6 months. Begin with single-grain cereals, mashed dal, soft fruits. Continue breastfeeding.

🍱

1 – 3 Years

Family foods, 3 meals + 2 snacks/day. Include dairy, protein, vegetables, grains. Limit sugar and processed foods.

🌈

3+ Years

Encourage variety — eat the rainbow! Include iron-rich foods for brain development and calcium for growing bones.

Child Health Tips

Practical advice from our paediatricians to keep your little ones happy and healthy.

1

Follow the Vaccine Schedule

Never delay or skip vaccines. Each vaccine is timed to provide protection when the child is most vulnerable. Even if delayed, complete the schedule — speak to our doctor about catch-up doses.

2

Breastfeed Exclusively for 6 Months

Breast milk provides all nutrients AND antibodies your newborn needs. It protects against infections, allergies, and obesity later in life. Even partial breastfeeding after 6 months is beneficial.

3

Track Growth Regularly

Bring your child's health booklet to every visit. Regular weight and height tracking can catch nutritional deficiencies, growth hormone issues, and developmental delays early.

4

Screen Time Rules

Under 2 years: Zero screen time (except video calls). 2–5 years: Max 1 hour/day. 6+ years: Consistent limits with focus on educational content. Prioritise outdoor play!

5

Sleep is Non-Negotiable

Newborns need 14–17 hours, toddlers 11–14 hours, school-age children 9–11 hours. Poor sleep affects growth hormone release, immunity, mood and concentration.

6

Handwashing = Best Medicine

Teach children to wash hands before eating, after toilet, after outdoor play. Proper handwashing reduces diarrhoea by 40% and respiratory infections by 20%.

7

Dental Health Starts at Birth

Wipe gums with a clean cloth even before teeth appear. Start tooth brushing at first tooth. First dental visit by age 1. Avoid bottle feeding at bedtime — it causes severe tooth decay.

8

Safe Sleep for Babies

Always place babies on their back to sleep. No pillows, quilts or soft toys in crib. Room-share but avoid bed-sharing for infants under 1 year. This prevents SIDS (Sudden Infant Death).

9

Read Aloud Every Day

Reading to children from birth builds vocabulary, imagination and brain connections. Even 10 minutes of reading daily can significantly boost school readiness and cognitive development.

10

Mental Health Matters Too

Children feel stress, anxiety and sadness. Create a safe space for them to talk. Validate their emotions. Watch for signs of bullying, school avoidance or sudden behaviour changes.
